Teaneck/Englewood Book Discussion"Little Disturbances":9/28 7PM

The Englewood and Teaneck Public Libraries will jointly host a free five-part reading and discussion series called "Let's Talk About It: Jewish Literature - Identity and Imagination." The series explores Jewish literature and culture through scholar-led discussion of contemporary and classic books on a common theme. The Library's series will explore the theme of "Your Heart's Desire: Sex and Love in Jewish Literature." The library is one of 200 libraries nationwide receiving grants to host the series developed by Nextbook and the American Library Association. All dates are Wednesday evenings and the programs will begin each night at 7:00 PM.

The second session in the series will take place this evening, Wednesday, September 28th, at the ENGLEWOOD PUBLIC LIBRARY (at 31 Engle Street, just north of Palisade Avenue in Englewood). The book to be discussed will be "The Little Disturbances of Man" by Grace Paley.

Professor Kenneth Libo, co-author of "World of Our Fathers" with Irving Howe and other books about Jewish history, will lead the programs, which will center around reader discussion. Dr. Libo, whose articles have appeared in the New York Times, Jewish History and other publications, has taught at the City college of New York and served as curator of curator of American Jewish history at the Museum of Jewish Heritage in New York, and the National Museum of American Jewish History in Philadelphia.

Participation in the series is capped at 50, and pre-registration is required. Books will be available for borrowing at both the Englewood and Teaneck Libraries.
