TEANECK - An attack on three teenagers and a separate robbery over the weekend may have been gang-related, police said Monday.

Two teenagers from Bogota and one from Teaneck were attacked at 6 p.m. Sunday at Herrick Park by as many as 10 possible gang members, ranging in age from the late teens to early 20s, police said.

After stealing two cellphones from the teenagers, the assailants ran to a parked car with more people inside and drove away, police said. The victims were treated for cuts and bruises at Holy Name Hospital.

About 3½ hours later, a 23-year-old Teaneck man was robbed of $180 by two males near Larch Avenue and North Street.

That victim called police on his cellphone, and officers found two youths, 18 and 16, hiding in bushes along Larch Avenue, Detective Lt. Norman Levine said.

"They were identified by the victim, and the subsequent investigation showed they were part of the group involved in the earlier Herrick Park assault," Levine said.

Both teenagers were charged with robbery in the Larch Avenue incident. No charges had been filed in the Herrick Park incident as of Monday afternoon.

"It was such a large-scale incident that it is still under investigation," Levine said.
